SIBN works with community-based providers,  committed to creating a  more cohesive and integrated care system for individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness.

The major goals since inception have focused on developing a service delivery system that:

Þ Utilizes care coordinators to minimize the fragmentation of services and ensures access to clinically indicated levels of care

Þ Focuses on the needs of priority populations

Þ Promotes the expectation that each individual can either recover from or better manage their psychiatric disability

Þ Promotes both empowerment and peer support

Þ Ensures recipient choice

Þ Reduces reliance on inpatient hospitalization

Þ Identifies and addresses individual service needs

Þ Increases provider system accountability
